Digital technology holds the promise of enriching lives and strengthening our communities, but for older adults, technology can be sources of anxiety and confusion - barriers to participation in the social mainstream rather than resources for independent living. These residencies engage older adults in creating digital art inspired by their life experiences. Led by a professional teaching artist this residency offers older adults the opportunity to create photos that reflect their personal stories and memories. The workshops explore the basic use of the camera and various approaches to photography.
At the end of the program, ESTA works with the host site to plan a culminating exhibition to present the work created by participants to the site's community, their family and friends, and the greater public. Check out this beautiful photography book one group decided to make!
