TRAININGS

Building on over 30 years of experience in the designing and implementing of creative aging programs, ESTA offers a broad range of unique trainings for arts and aging organizations wishing to expand their offerings. Trainings are tailored to meet the venue's special needs and interests. See below for a representative list:

ESTA Overview

Each training session includes the history, methodology, and programming of Elders Share the Arts in light of the emerging field of creative aging.

Creativity and Aging

Training sessions emphasize the potential for creativity throughout our entire lifetimes and its direct impact on health and well-being.

Intergenerational Arts

History Alive!

Training for History Alive! uses living history theater arts to mine stories from life experiences and forge intergenerational connections

Arts in Dementia Care

Culture Change

The training process for Culture Change begins with a 10-week intensive in a storytelling method known as TimeSlips. Please see TimeSlip training information below.

Life Collage

Training in Life Collage is offered to providers working in long-term care facilities as well as individual caregivers that serve elders with early-stage dementia. Trained participants learn how to facilitate Life Collage with large groups, small groups, or with individuals.

TimeSlips

Trainers from ESTA teach facility staff the TimeSlips method and highlight the individually engaging and person-centered principals and skills it exemplifies, such as emotional attunement, open-ended questioning, validation, and non-verbal communication. When the TimeSlips module concludes, ESTA then works with care giving staff to apply these methods to other programs and activities throughout the facility.

Technical Assistance

ESTA's experienced staff can provide support in how to design, implement, and evaluate creative aging programs.
